About this Page

This page is about all of the little things that happen in the Methacton School District that seem to never end up in The Times Herald or never talked about as local news. I have been attending school board meetings for give or take five years now, so I have experience understanding the way the school district runs as well as, you know, someone who has been going to school board meetings for five years.

Whatever facts that are posted on this page will be public knowledge, and I will try to back up every one of my facts with some kind of source. If there isn't a source posted alongside the fact, it may be because it's some kind of obscured knowledge only attainable through a right-to-know request, or it just isn't on the internet (like Methacton's budget). I'd hate to say you'd just have to take my word for it, but you kinda have too. Sorry.

I believe knowledge is power, and the only way to improve the way Methacton is run is by giving the voting populace as much knowledge as need to force a change. However, this is my own blog, and I will let my opinions shine through. However, if you disagree, or feel I misrepresented a fact or something, please contact me and we can talk. I'm open to conversation.

  1. Methacton school district in the name of safe play for students and in the process of proceeding with plans to renovate the sports fields with artifical turf, may want to read this article and look at studies before they go any further.

How Safe Is the Artificial Turf Your Child Plays On?

NBC’s own extensive investigation, which included a review of the relevant studies and interviews with scientists and industry professionals, was unable to find any agreement over whether crumb turf had ill effects on young athletes, or even whether the product had been sufficiently tested.

The Synthetic Turf Council, an industry group, says that the evidence collected so far by scientists and state and federal agencies proves that artificial turf is safe.

“We’ve got 14 studies on our website that says we can find no negative health effects,” said Dr. Davis Lee, a Turf Council board member. While those studies aren’t “absolutely conclusive,” he added, “There’s certainly a preponderance of evidence to this point that says, in fact, it is safe.”
